Safety and Security Services

The Telematics Control Unit (TCU) plays a vital role in enabling a broad range of safety and security services in modern connected vehicles. It acts as the vehicle’s communication and intelligence gateway, interfacing between internal vehicle systems and external cloud or emergency services infrastructure.

These safety and security services are designed to enhance occupant protection, enable rapid response during emergencies, and prevent vehicle misuse or theft.

  • eCall / Emergency Call : Automatically initiates an SOS call to emergency services in the event of a severe accident, transmitting location, crash data, and passenger count.
  • bCall / Breakdown Call: Allows the driver to initiate a breakdown assistance request to roadside support providers via the TCU.
  • Stolen Vehicle Tracking (SVT):Enables vehicle tracking in the event of theft using real-time GPS telemetry and geofencing alerts.
  • Remote Immobilization: Allows authorized authorities or backend systems to remotely disable the engine startup in stolen vehicle cases.
  • Over-Speeding / Geofence Alerts: Triggers alerts when the vehicle exceeds speed limits or leaves defined geographic zones.
  • Crash Notification & Severity Analysis: Detects collisions via airbag or accelerometer sensors and communicates crash severity to emergency responders.
